I've read the reviews that stated this information is dated and is more of a history lesson than a valuable resource, and that's not true.

Book Club: “The Machine That Changed the World”

While the information and data was collected years ago, the lessons and ideas of lean manufacturing are still relevant. The comparison of craft vs mass vs lean is explained using the automotive industry as the setting, as Toyota is the pioneer in lean production.

It's a much better read than Toyota Kata, and deserves a place in your collection if you work in a manufacturing environment. I love his book and bought another one for a relative.
